A recap: Dyson at Dubai Fashion Week, including this season’s hair trends, tips and tricks

Global Hair Care Styling Ambassador Matthew Collins

With the latest edition of Dubai Fashion Week having come to a close, as the official hair technology partner of the event, we were busy creating this season’s hottest runway hairstyles. Our pioneering hair care technology, such as the Dyson Supersonic™, Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler and Dyson Corrale™ straightener, offered stylists the flexibility, control and agility they needed during the most important week on the UAE’s fashion calendar.

During the five-day event, we hosted multiple masterclasses at our pop-up in d3, led by celebrity stylist and Dyson Global Hair Care Styling Ambassador Matthew Collins, celebrity stylist and Dyson ambassador Deena Alawaid and session stylist Natalie Kasses. The exclusive classes presented pre-registered attendees with a unique opportunity to see how models’ hair was styled for Dubai Fashion Week using Dyson products. Each participant was also treated to a personal styling session with one of Dyson's experts to learn how to recreate the looks with a little help from our hair care technology.

In addition, we opened a pop up and Beauty Lab space to the public, styling over 800 people over a 5-day period, giving visitors the chance to try out Dyson's full hair care range and ask our expert stylists for advice about their hair dilemmas. Attendees got to discover new techniques for achieving salon-quality hair at home using Dyson products, whilst also experiencing a sneak peak of the highly anticipated Dyson Airstrait™ which is yet to arrive in the region.

Throughout Dubai Fashion Week, we styled the models hair across all runway shows including Ameni Esseibi, the first curvy model of the Middle East, who walked for Lili Blanc and Michael Cinco. We were also honoured to style all Carolina Herrera models during an exclusive, invite-only fashion show pop-up to mark the opening of this iteration of fashion week, before Naomi Campbell closed off the season.

If you missed any of the fashion week excitement, we managed to get the inside scoop from Dyson’s very own hairstyling ambassador and celebrity stylist Deena Alawaid, on how to create some of the looks from the runway, from the comfort of your own home.

  • Big, Bouncy 90’s Blowouts

One of the first trends Deena shares is that 90’s blowouts are back! A glamourous style that resonates with famous celebrities of the time including actress Jennifer Aniston, supermodel Christy Turlington or pop sensation Jennifer Lopez. Timeless, classic and chic, the 90’s blowout is a signature style of incredible body and bounce set to add that extra bit of ‘ooo la la’ on the runway.

  • Effortless Styling

The world is trending towards that natural look more and more, whether it’s with makeup, hair or beauty, the key word of the day here is “effortless”. To get that look perfect, Deena explains that it’s all about using less product in the hair, alongside generous sculpting using bigger, round brushes to create a more voluminous, natural movement. Less is more, where the less work it seems has been put into the hair, the trendier it appears.

  • Keeping it Simple

Deena reveals that familiar styles such as low buns, the use of claw clips and even braids are making a comeback. Showcasing versatility as well as simplicity, each have their own unique qualities to amplify any overall look.

All the styles and trends mentioned are easily achievable with the range of Dyson’s haircare technologies, including the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer, Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler and Dyson Corrale™ straightener. With a range of attachments, precise temperature settings, and core Dyson engineering, all of Dyon’s haircare tools are designed to suit every hair type whilst preserving hair health.
